Natalija Umelek

Our Founder

Natalija founded Themis after spending the last decade building transformational teams, and TA functions at high-growth technology companies.

Natalija was most recently leading all of Talent Acquisition at Thrasio. She joined the company as the 200th employee and was instrumental in helping the company scale to 1300 employees in less than one year! Her team was focused on strategically growing Talent Operations and put the right programs in place that propelled the company to raise 3 rounds in less than 18 months.

Prior to Thrasio, Natalija was the Global head of Talent Acquisition at a Global SaaS product company, Deputy. She was the first TA hire, and built the Talent Acquisition strategy and function from the ground up, allowing the company to scale from 50 to 350 employees in under two years. During this time the company raised it’s series A and B rounds.

Prior to Deputy, Natalija was the Manager of Talent Acquisition with Rakuten, one of the largest e-commerce companies globally. She built the U.S. Technical Recruiting function that supported 28 different departments distributed throughout the US.

Natalija currently partners with VC firms to help build out early stage talent for the portfolio companies.

Cara has 10+ years of full cycle recruiting experience at startup and midsize companies. Most recently she managed recruiting operations and tech recruiting at CPG startup, Thrasio during a period of extremely high growth. Previously she hired engineers and products designers Palantir Technologies, a data analytics company. She has also recruited for healthcare, higher ed, finance, and travel companies and has built tech teams in the US, Europe, Asia, and South America. She cares deeply about DEI hiring and the importance of building these practices into recruitment processes from the start. When she's not working she enjoys cooking, traveling, learning how to sail, and going to the beach with her dog.
